I had the privilege of being a chaperone on the 2nd grade field trip to the zoo. I was able to ride on a big yellow school bus which I have not done since I was in school. It was a bit chilly that day but that did not stop any of us from having a great time which we did. The group pictures of the Juliana's class were a bit of a disaster, but what do you expect? I mean it's like herding 23 cats, oh I mean kids.
These two pictures are from the piano recital the kids performed in. The girls began taking piano about 3 months ago and they love it just like their brother.

Hiking Beautiful Devil's Head
Over Labor Day weekend we decided to hike Devil's Head. It is a pretty intense hike about 40 minuets south of Denver. The hike in is about an hour and a half and then there is a look out tower at the end of the hike that you can climb up to and then there is an incredible view of the Rocky Mountains. Now I will admit openly that I am not a hiker nor am I an out doors type of person, but this hike is worth it. We all had a great time.
These last couple of pictures of of Mike's cousin James and his beautiful family who have recently moved to Denver. Their kids are similar ages to our kids and all get along great. I had planned BBQ hamburgers which unfortunately Mike burned to an absolute crisp (accidentally I assume!) But, somehow James' and his family wanted to come back again and we have had them over for dinner a couple of times since. We really enjoy their company. A great family!

Back to School
Here are the girl's on their 1st day of 2nd grade. Grandma Nelson bought the new backpacks and new shoes, so the girls were wanting to show them off to Grandma. I love these two cuties!
Daddy and Daughter Olympics
This fun end of summer event has now been about a 6 year tradition for dad and the girls. It is a fun morning of different competitions that the dads and daughters compete in. The morning ends with the caterpillar walk which somehow (quite miraculously) the Nelson's seemed to have been able to taken 2nd place in the last two years. I am not sure how that happens! Pure luck in my humble opinion.
Fun at the Barn
I know I am super behind on my blogging! But I will try really hard to catch up! So, all through the summer, the kids came with me to the barn about every week and watched me ride. They loved it of course because who does not love the barn right? They loved brushing and loving on my handsome Houston. The last couple of pictures are of the girls' favorite at the barn. She is a cute little pony named Minnie. They loved petting her and loving on her as well.
